Staff

Jennifer Schwerdtfeger, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-H
has been a partner/owner of Auditing and Coding Experts (ACE) since 2002. Jenny has twenty-five plus years experience coding and auditing throughout the United States. As a leader in the field of coding, she has recently co-authored the textbook ICD-9-CM Coding Theory and Practice.

Born on March 22, 1949, Jenny grew up the daughter of an attorney in the Chicago area. Jenny attended public school in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and in 1971, graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas. In 1984 Jenny received her RHIT credential.

As co-author of ICD-9-CM Coding Theory and Practice, Jenny has made it a life long goal to stay current and at the forefront of her field. The many hours that were put into making this book a success is an example of her commitment to the profession and dedication to achieving coding quality. She possesses exemplary skills and boundless energy in her pursuits for the success of ACE. Together with her partner Judy Hayes, ACE has become a leading provider of auditing and coding services in the Baltimore/Washington area.

Jenny is a member of AHIMA, MdHIMA, and the AAPC, and has taught coding at several colleges within the state of Maryland, as well as instructed large groups of physicians at major universities in E&M coding compliance.

Jenny is an active parishioner at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Crownsville, Maryland. She has served on the Vestry, as well as the Altar Guild, as Sunday School Supervisor and currently as a Lay Eucharstic Minister.

Jenny was married to David Schwerdtfeger on July 15, 1972. They have two children and four granddaughters. In her sparetime Jenny enjoys reading, bicycling, kayaking and golf.

Judy Hayes
, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P
as founding Partner of Auditing & Coding Experts (ACE), has been serving clients primarily located in the Baltimore/Washington area since July 2001. Judy became a Registered Health Information Technician through the American Health Information Management (AHIMA) in 1979 and a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through AHIMA in 1995. In 1999 she was certified through AHIMA as a Certified Coding Specialist- Physician- Based.

Having twenty years of coding & auditing experience in both inpatient and outpatient work, coupled with her management skills gained from past business ventures and management experience in hospital settings, Judy offers the leadership that is needed for the continued success and growth of ACE. Relying on the latest technology and experience gained in the field of auditing and coding of medical records, her foresight and vision for ACE makes ACE a perfect partner to many hospitals in the Baltimore/Washington area. . This experience, coupled with her business partner, Jenny Schwerdtfeger, has created a team that is results driven for both their clients and those that subcontract for ACE.

Judy is a member of AHIMA and MdHIMA, as well as being a member of “Inner Circle” , a peer group exclusively for Business Owners. She is an active parishioner in the ministries of her Catholic Church, St. Ignatius in Bel Air, Maryland. Judy was instrumental in establishing the St. Ignatius “Substance Abuse Ministry”. She is an active member on the Board of Directors of “Addiction Connections Resource, Inc.” (ACR), as well as other community associations.

Judy, and her husband Len, have four children and four grandchildren.
